Sky Girls

Time for another anime review. This time I’ll be talking a bit about Sky Girls, which aired back in 2007. I only recently watched it so it’s still fresh in my mind. Sky Girls is classified as an action/drama/military anime, but I think the focus leans a bit more towards the drama side. The setting of the story takes place in the near future, where the human race has been all but wiped out by beings known as Worms. The Worms were thought to have been destroyed entirely, but their re-emergence calls for new tactics to be used to wipe them out before they annihilate what is left of the world. A new form of defense is formed, the mechas called Sonic Divers, and 3 young girls with different backgrounds are recruited into the military as test pilots. At least.. that is how it all begins.

I remember when I first started watching anime. Back then I was completely ignorant to the difference between cartoons and Japanese animation, which is pretty embarrassing. I was a pre-teen at the time, and raised in a very small town in the U.S. so really, what can you expect. My first major run-in with anime was actually thanks to a dubbed over Sailor Moon airing on Cartoon Network I believe. It’s been over 10 years ago now so forgive me for not remembering all that well. Yep, Sailor Moon it was. It was my first experience with anime with girls in school uniforms, with magical powers, and all that sparkly girly stuff that manly men either don’t dare watch, or don’t dare talk about (at least around here). I believe I was around 11 or 12 years old when I started watching, religiously every morning before school. It aired at around 5 AM, and I was always up to see it. I’m not really sure just how far I got in the series, but I’m pretty sure I finished the first season. So what does my first anime crush tell you about me? Read More
Queen’s Blade: Rurou no Senshi

A few nights ago I finished watching through Queen’s Blade: Rurou no Senshi for the 3rd time. I had planned on doing this review before but after watching the second season I thought it would be best to have the first one fresh in my mind to write up a review. I’ll do another post about the second season after I re-watch it. First of all, I must start out by saying this anime is overlooked and under appreciated due to the ecchiness contained within it. In fact so much so, that it took seeing so many great figures and encouragement from fellow blogger Blowfish to push me to finally getting past the first episode. One of the main problems with the show was that the first fan subs that emerged were simply horrible, they weren’t taken seriously at all and really were not justifiable by any means. On top of that almost everywhere you go you hear nothing but negativity towards Queen’s Blade due to the fanservice content being more than usual, as well as it having aired uncensored. Most people seem to think it’s nothing but oppai and hentai. Once I picked the show back up to give it a try what I saw really impressed me. Read More
Shangri-La

Having recently watched through the entirety of Shangri-La for a second time, I decided it would be a better time than any to write up my own little review on it. Shangri-La is an science fiction anime based on a light novel written by Eiichi Ikegami with illustration done by Ken’ichi Yoshida. The character designs of the anime itself is by Range Murata, direction done by Makoto Bessho and it is produced by Gonzo. The anime started airing during this Spring, and I watched it weekly when it legally streamed on Crunchyroll. If you’re interested in watching it you can still watch it there. I’m going to try doing this review different than my previous ones. As usual this anime review will be as spoiler free as possible. Read More

My most recent addiction, MyAnimeList.
Ever since my husband showed me this site I have become more and more addicted. I love joining the anime clubs and getting the member ID cards to add to my profile.
I also love how you can keep track of all the anime and manga you have watched or read so far.
I haven’t added any manga to my profile yet, but eventually I will.
Just today Persocom created a club on there for the “Hyakko” character, Suzume saotome, one of my most favorite characters in this particular anime.
If you are interested in joining let me know, and we can give you an invite to the club!

I myself think that this is an awesome helpful and informational site for all otaku. Feel free to check it out!

Spring Anime Season Is Here
Posted by Persocom on Apr 6, 2009 in Anime | 25 comments
Almost all the Winter shows have come to their ends, and the Spring season is upon us. Almost every blog out there is doing episodics or first impressions, but I’m not sure what I want to do here. I’ve just recently finished up watching Rideback, Skip Beat!, Asu no Yoichi!, Akikan!, Toradora!, To Aru Majutsu no Index, and Clannad ~After Story, and I’m still watching Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae (subbers have been behind on that one all season), Maria Holic and SoraKake, along with a handful of older shows. In all honesty I watch way too much anime to keep up doing reviews or whatever about each one, which is why we prefer to just randomly write up our thoughts on anime we’ve finished. I know other people do the episodics and deep in depth posts about everything out there already, and I’d probably join in if I wasn’t always watching something new, but there’s just too much anime and too little time to keep up with constant reviews and what not. We’ll still be doing our little end of show reviews of course, but for right now I just want to talk about what I’m watching a little bit. Read More
