Sanya V. Litvyak 1/8 PVC

Yesterday the postman delivered Sanya V. Lityvak (from Strike Witches) to my door, after a few days of traveling here from Japan via Hobby Search. I had thought about getting this figure but recently my figure purchases have been cut down quite a bit and I thought I’d hold out and see if I could get this one for a deal. Somehow it worked out perfectly because they had a sale and I got her for 2,720 Yen, which is just around the price of a Figma, rather than her normal price of 6,800 Yen. As of writing this she is sold out on Hobby Search. If you’re interested in this figure at all, read on. Though it’s not really NSFW, I wouldn’t suggest reading on if you’re at work though.

Since I didn’t do a loot post for this I decided I’ll just show the box in my review. Loot posts only seem worthwhile if there’s a lot of different things to show. On with the normal review now.

First off, she comes with 2 sets of propellers for her striker unit, “spinning” and static, her rocket launcher, or “Fliegerhummer”, her base with arm that comes in pieces, a removable skirt and one striker unit piece for putting the base in as well as 2 without a hole in it. The figure itself is good, not the best quality ever, but it is normal Kotobukiya quality, which I have no issues with even though it’s slightly flawed in places (paint, a few lines here and there). Many people think the face is off from her character in the anime, but I guess I find her face just fine myself, rather like it to be honest. I think she’s great, from her striker units to her Fliegerhummer, seems accurate enough and is decently sculpted. Yes, even her crotch detail seems fine, I find it of worthy mention since it’s pretty much in your face. By the way, for those who might not have seen the series, she does wear pantsu under those tights. Sanya is my favorite character from Strike Witches, as the night owl from ORussia who sings spells and acts as a protector of the night skies. Alright, so we got the good parts of her down. She’s great… until you get to her base.

Now for the bad, and ugly. The base itself looks rather nice. With spell insignia and it’s eye popping blue, it looks pretty neat at first site. I have no issues with the base. Where it all goes incredibly wrong is the arm. Made to mock a Figma, the arm seems alright, until you realise this is NOT a Figma, this is a 1/8 PVC trying to be supported by a fail copycat Figma arm, that doesn’t properly hold the figure except at special angles. Tip her a little bit and she’ll fall right over. I can’t even express my dislike for the arm of this base. It’s worse than the worst Revoltech stands. I’m hoping some day in the near future I can figure out an alternate way to display her because the arm is total crap. I feel nervous having her on it because it feels like any minute she could tip backwards and smash into my computer desk. The separate pieces of the arm feel loose, when posing it I had to take extra special care to keep her from crashing down, and in fact she took a couple tumbles. This is the figure’s fatal flaw and probably the only reason I wouldn’t recommend this figure. I personally do like the figure though, as much as I hate the base’s arm, and have never been so frustrated with such a thing before, I can’t complain about the figure.

Overall, I’d say unless you’re a hardcore Strike Witches/Sanya fan, don’t buy this figure at full price, try and get it discounted like I did, because at it’s full price the base/arm problem would make me feel ripped off, it’s that bad. I don’t dislike it though, but that itself makes it not quite worth the full asking price. Great figure otherwise. If you want to see more of her, check out Kodomut’s review, he does a great job.

Ah I see someone else grabbed her at the sale too eh…Yea the arm is crap and a real shame too from the looks of Lynette Koto aims to use the same junk base for all their Strike Witch figures. >_<

Ashlotte – yeah I think I’ll pass on Lynette, if they do Francesca or Eila I might get them when they drop to sale prices, as I’m pretty sure any from this line will end up there. It is a real shame because with a good strong arm this would have been a great line of Strike Witches figures. I think I would have been happy with the metal rod from the prototype.

Interesting way to pose the legs. :)

This is a dynamic figure, nice a nice face expression. I don’t know the origin of this figure, but she is really original. Tanks for this presentation!

That is indeed a small arm to hold the entire figure, and it’s poseable too for a non-articulated figure… How strange. They could have made a solid piece instead which would hopefully be stronger.

Can’t say much about the figure itself because I am not into Strike Witches or the pose itself. The first picture does look pretty cool though.

I know that quite a few people were turned off by her cameltoe but I dont see a problem with that.To be honest I was thinking about getting her from that sale aswell but I have to save some money right now…Im now kinda glad that I didnt order her since that problem with her arm is quite a bummer.
How are you displying her now?

I started watching Strike Witches a few months ago but I never quite got too deep into it. The face looks pretty nice though~

    Action Man – indeed XD

    Leonia – np ^^

Q – yeah a solid piece instead of an arm would have been a lot better in my opinion too, I would rather have the rod they showed in the prototype pix.

Blowfish – I’m displaying her just the way she’s shown in the top four pictures showing the different angles right now, right beside my monitor because I fear having her up too high, she wobbles and I don’t want her falling and breaking.

Wolfheinrich – It took me a long time to finish the entire show too, it’s one that I started, dropped and came back to and then actually enjoyed it in the end.

I really like the top part of the figure beacause i love the nekomimi style and her face is pretty nice.

But her legs, even if it’s a major part of the anime character, disturb me a lot.

Apparently after what you says, arms are not very well made, which is a shame.
But with Kotobukiya, we never have a flawless quality.

lylibellule – yeah Kotobukiya isn’t flawless but then I really don’t mind them, the arm of the base is the only irritating piece of her for me so they did alright on the actual figure. It would have been a nice touch if her striker unit was removable altogether but then her pose would look odd XD
