Vocaloid Nendoroid Petit Set #01

Recently my first Nendoroid Petit set arrived, the Vocaloid Series #01 by GoodSmile Company. I had pre-ordered from Hobby Search for 5,700 yen or around $65.86. I didn’t think the price was so bad until the shipment notice came. EMS shipping is starting to get too expensive, but this was something I wanted badly so I can deal with it. Final price for arriving in a timely manner at my door: $100 and a few odd cents. Of course the first shipment of the set is sold out, but you can sign up for the waiting list of the second shipment(which is already sold out) if you want to try and get it. Despite the price and the risk of not getting all the figures in one box, I am satisfied with my purchase. Out of 12 boxes and 11 possible figures I managed to get all 11 of them including the special figure, and one extra. Read on for the unboxing and review.

The big box before and after opening. I like the display box, I think I’ll be holding on to it. It’s just like a booster box for collectible card games.

The little boxes aren’t bad either, but some of the tops didn’t want to open without messing them up a little, but who really cares about the boxes, what counts is what’s inside, right?

Since not everyone is familiar with the entire Vocaloid cast I’ll write a little about each one as I show you them. This is a review I really don’t know how to go about doing as it’s my first time reviewing a set of figures like this. Well I guess I’ll kick it off with the official Vocaloid characters, let’s start with Meiko.

MeikoMeiko
MeikoMeiko

Meiko’s arms both move, her head can be rotated and her skirt is removable and the legs are held together as a single unit, so the legs themselves aren’t movable but can be rotated. Meiko was the first Japanese singing Vocaloid, and the oldest of them all. Perhaps one day I’ll do a little post about her. Well moving on, we’ll go to Kaito.

KaitoKaito
KaitoKaito

Kaito has movable arms and his head can be rotated. His scarf is also able to be posed or removed. His legs slightly rotate as well. Kaito was the first Japanese singing male Vocaloid, and I suppose I should give him a post one of these days as well. Kaito is looking pretty cool here. I’d like to see a Meiko and Kaito Figma in the near future.

Miku HatsuneMiku Hatsune
Miku HatsuneMiku Hatsune

Next up is the one most everyone knows the best: Miku Hatsune. This particular version of Miku has moving arms, hands that can be rotated that hold leeks which are removable, and one of her legs can also be moved around. Her twin tails can be moved around too, as well as her skirt removed. Miku was the first Japanese singing Vocaloid from the Vocaloid 2 series.

Rin KagamineRin Kagamine
Len KagamineLen Kagamine
Rin & Len Kagamine

Rin Kagamine has movable arms as well as her head and her legs rotate as a single unit. Len Kagamine is the same. She and her brother Len are twins and were released as part of the Vocaloid 2 series after Miku. If you’ve been visiting my site for a while you’ve probably seen my reviews of the Figma versions of both of them.

Miku HachuneMiku Hachune
Miku HachuneMiku Hachune
Miku HachuneMiku Hachune

This is Miku Hachune. She is an officially recognized version of Miku, first seen in the famous leekspin song video “Ievan Polka”. This particular petit Nendoroid is the “secret” figure of the batch, and she is the first to be made fully articulated. She also comes with an extra hand with a leek, so you can have her with or without the leek in various poses. I’m interested to see if they continue making these, I think it works nicely.

Luka MegurineLuka Megurine
Luka MegurineLuka Megurine

Luka Megurine has movable arms head and rotating legs as a single unit, and her skirt is removable as well. One thing I didn’t notice right away is that her hair over her left arm can be moved as well to make her easier to pose one I figured that out she was a lot more fun to mess with. Luka is the latest of the official Vocaloid 2 character vocal series and you’ve probably seen her around. Must do another Luka post in the near future. I’m contemplating if maybe I should attempt at making some music with her since she’s fluent in Japanese and English.

Haku YowaneHaku Yowane
Haku YowaneHaku Yowane

Haku Yowane is a fan made Vocaloid spin off character based on Miku. Both her arms move and her legs are a single unit that is able to be rotated, her head slightly moves and her pony tail is removable. She’s known as a drunk and depressed failure version of Miku, I guess it wouldn’t hurt dedicating a post to her either.

Neru AkitaNeru Akita
Neru AkitaNeru Akita

This yellow haired baka is Neru Akita. Her arms are both movable, her side pony tail is movable and her hand holding her cell phone can as well. Her legs are a single unit that can be rotated and her skirt is removable. Neru Akita is another spin off of Miku that is officially recognized by Crypton. She was created soon after Miku was released in Japan when a TV program flamed users of Miku, and she’s known as a delinquent and a troll.

Miku Hatsune (Saihate ver.)Miku Hatsune (Saihate ver.)
Miku Hatsune (Saihate ver.)Miku Hatsune (Saihate ver.)

This is Miku Hatsune again, this time based off a song “Saihate”. Both of her arms and her twin tails are movable, her skirt is removable and her legs are connected as a single rotating unit. I must say this is quite a beautiful version of Miku to me, probably my favorite of the three Miku’s in this set.

Meiko (Sakine ver.)Meiko (Sakine ver.)
Meiko (Sakine ver.)Meiko (Sakine ver.)

Finally, last but not least, the second version of Meiko included in this set: Meiko Sakine version. This version is also based on how she looks in a song of hers. Like all the rest her arms and head can be moved and her legs can be rotated and are a single unit. She’s got the “kira” pose and her skirt is also removable.

Kaito & Luka Megurine
Haku Yowane & Neru Akita
Meiko & Meiko (Sakine ver.)

Well that is one long review. Over 1,000 words and 50+ pictures. I think I’ll stop here. Look forward to more pictures of these little ones in the near future. I took plenty that I couldn’t fit in this post without feeling like it was complete overkill. I think it’s overkilled enough with 11 little figures to review all in one shot. I think next time I get a Nendo petit box perhaps I’ll split it into two posts.

  1. Great review! I want the set but it’s pretty expensive.

EMS is indeed pretty crazy. It’s kind of why I don’t order from Hobby Search that often any more.

I’m surprised that this is your first Nendoroid Petit set, considering all the Nendoroids you have!

Oh and I think Nendoroid Petit boxes are always a complete set. At least that was the case with previous Nendoroid Petit lines, like Lucky Star.

  2. Orange – thanks ^^ Well maybe they do come with all of them every time, I just based the assumption that they might not off the description Hobby Search gives. I’m going to significantly reduce how often I use EMS shipping next year, that might just have to be my own little new year resolution to myself.

  3. I love these set but the price tag is too high for me. Anyway Kaito paint job isn’t that good but the rest is okay. Thanks for sharing. :)

  4. I’am not a Nendoroid Petit addict or Vocaloid addict. But they are cute ^^ Thank for the presentation

You could obtain all 11 characters, that’s really great! I hope it’ll
    be the same for me.
They’re all adorable. I have a big preference, just like you for MIKU
with the small flower. Magnificent !

Thanks you for taking the time to do as much photos and wrote the long
    text ;)

I’m still surprised at myself for not going for these petit nendoroids. I think it’s because between all the Haruhi and Lucky Star petit nendoroids I own (and the Deathnote ones on the way) I was starting to feel I owned too many to display at once. For Vocaloid the only thing I’m collecting are the GSC figures it seems. Although I do own the regular sized nendo of Miku and her two SEGA music boxes.

LEon – I should have bought them somewhere without EMS shipping then the price wouldn’t have been anywhere near as bad. I don’t mind Kaito’s paint job but yeah in a few spots on some of them the paint job could have been better.

Leonia – to each his/her own ^^ thanks for checking it out regardless :)

lylibellule – I hope you get them all too, and maybe x2 of the Saihate Miku? :P I’m definitely using her in other pictures, as well as the rest of them, they’re adorable XD

lovelyduckie – Well these are by GSC but I know what you mean. These little figures take up a nice amount of space and I could imagine if you had a few sets already. I think what sold this set to me was the inclusion of characters I don’t own any figures of until now. I got a little Vocaloid army now. I want those music boxes :3

    Cute little Nendoroids ^^.
I really like the Puchi Nendoroids but the risk of not getting the whole set annoys me. I purchased the Lucky Star season 1 set on Ebay since the seller verified that the all the figures were included. A bit more expensive but worth it to me :D

anon.object – yeah I was a bit worried about not getting the whole set so I feel lucky that I did. I’ve been hunting for the Akira Kogami one from that Lucky Star set for quite some time but the one time I bid on her I didn’t win.

I JUST GOT MINE TOO!!! YEAH! XD

Can’t wait to unpack them tomorrow, I’m a bit tired already today x3

    They all look lovely =D

They just announced a re-release on those music boxes. They called them version 1.5

“I think what sold this set to me was the inclusion of characters”

It’s definitely the best way to collect all the characters. Cheapest by far.

Which extra did you get? I’m still waiting on mine to come.

  13. One is usually quite lucky to have the whole set packed in one carton. I don’t know about Nendoroid Puchis, but it is normally the case for other shokugans and trading figures. Besides, such things are usually not popular outside Asia due to the fact that the shipping will sometimes be more expensive than how much they should have worthed originally. I suppose this set is slightly exceptional because… Um the DC community knows GSC well and it’s Miku & co.

Btw nice and concise description on each character. I don’t normally go into Vocaloids so I didnt really have a clue how they came about, so thanks!

    Kazearashi – awesome ^^

lovelyduckie – yeah hunting them down and buying them separately would be more costly and time consuming. I’d like to get those music boxes but this month is going to be tight.

RinTestarossa – I got one extra of the normal Meiko. Not sure what I’ll do with her yet. For now I’ll just leave her in her packaging.

Q – I felt lucky that’s for sure. I’m looking forward to a second set of Vocaloid petits. Glad to see my extra effort in talking about them was informative ^^

  15. EMS has always been expensive hence, it’s always my last resort. Good thing is, HS is giving SAL shipping another go next year so it might benefit ur wallet if u can wait just a bit longer.

My set is already on the way but it might take a few weeks before it arrives. I ordered it from cdjapan and they get their stock in slower than HLJ. :(

Great review. I thought the secret character would be someone else other than miku. I was disappointed. :(

you are crazy!! and is that one of your “presents” from like…. half a year ago? and so THATS what you’ve been so busy doing. havent talked to you in forever. miss chatting with you and lea.

that calm miku is surprising beautiful! so would that be my xmas present? hehehe :3

grats on getting all of them. and happy holidays!!

btw. i made home made marshmallows :) and we dipped strawberries in it, we then plan on dipping another layer of chocolate on top of THAT! BWAHAHAHAH!! so what do YOU want for your xmas present? xD

  17. Optic – yeah I’m looking forward to the SAL, I can’t keep going with EMS it’s just not a wise choice.

3rdperson – nope, this isn’t one of my presents. depending on how this month goes both of those will most likely be canceled. They just happen to be releasing both the figures we were going to get for our birthdays this month. -.- I want things I can’t have obviously :P those marshmallows sound good :3

  18. Over $30 USD in shipping? That’s a bit much…
Anyways, I had a chance to get this, but there was another figure I really wanted, and my budget was stretched thin…
Anyways nice review and pics. ^ ^

  19. YAY KAITO!!! Im bought a kaito nendoroid petit yesterday on ebay. he’s shipping all the way from Hong Kong, so ill be waiting a while XP. Do they contain different faces that you can change liek the regular nendoroid? And also, how tall are they? they look really tiny 83!!

  20. Omg I need the yowane haku nendoroid. I am gonna buy her soon but I hackin’ need her now!!

  21. Nhi NguyenNo Gravatar

Hi im asking if they come in like set?
I asked my cousin one of those Vocaloid nendoroid and I only got 1 person…
What is the best place to get them on the computer or in California between the area San Diego and Los Angles.

    Please email me : papilovenhox101@hotmail.com

  22. PersocomNo Gravatar

Nhi Nguyen – You can buy them individually some places, but yes they come in a set as well. I hunted around all the retailers I know of online and I couldn’t find any that have them in stock. Good luck finding them though.
