Nikon D3000 Get!

So today I finally went out and bought myself a real camera, my first DSLR. I ended up getting the Nikon D3000. This picture was taken with my old Vivitar, the trusty yet crappy camera I’ve been using since way before this site existed. I know this main shot isn’t that great, which is a true testament to the quality of my old camera. All the rest of the pictures in this post are with the Nikon. I got myself a UV filter for my lens, a new lamp, some new bulbs and borrowed some equipment from my mom. I’ve all but burnt myself out today taking pictures since I got it. Expect my picture quality to increase as I experiment and learn. I haven’t done a real figure shoot with it yet, but I’ve taken plenty of random shots. I’ll share some of my shots from today with you now. Don’t worry there’s figures in the mix.

Gonna try out these new lightbulbs on figure review pictures, not sure how they’ll work but they’ve got to be better than incandescent right?
Newest figure arrival Xiphos, another Busou Shinki, I’ll be doing her review soonish too.
Went out tonight and got a few night shots in the snow, I definitely need practice on night shots. Forgot to take the tripod along though.
The camera I used for the last 4 years or so. I might break it out once in a while yet, but for now it’s going to take a long needed rest.
My son, he’s going to be 6 years old the end of next month.

Misaki Nakahara from Welcome to the NHK. I didn’t do too great on my pictures of her when I first got her so I figured a new one would be nice.
Black Rock Shooter. I noticed she had a hair on her thanks to the close-up shot. Funny how you notice things only after you take a picture of them.

A wood carving that someone gave my son. They actually have something really close to this in Busou Shinki Battle Rondo.
A dusty and dirty cowboy wind chime in the tack room at the horse stable where my mom keeps her horse.

So yeah, I took a lot of pictures and this is only a small sample of them. I’ll be back to focusing on the normal content of the site tomorrow, er, later today.

I can’t wait for my own DSLR, seems like you went all trigger happy with photos. i know I would too as I would pretty much just test the camera any everything just to try it out. I fell in love with my friends D5000 after using it for 2 whole days.
Best cat name btw, I’m assuming you used to watch Sabrina the Teenage witch? The close up pic of your cat almost tricked my eyes thinking it was a black panther.

Oh, nice, welcome to the world of SLRs ^^. Once you learn the manual options, the power of a DSLR will really start to pay off. Just be careful, it’s easy to get sucked in and spend tons of money on lenses and accessories xD

Wow, a DSLR. I want to get one too though I never liked how bulky they are lol, always hoping for a smaller one in the future. How much did it cost you if I may ask?

AS – The camera was $479+ tax, and I got a memory card with it so the total came out to $528, then I spent another $40 or so on a UV lens filter, lamp and bulbs.
chubbybots – thank you ^^ I’m still in trigger happy mode honestly, it comes in bursts XD Yeah I’ve yet to sit down and actually read the guide all the way through. I’m sure it’ll only get worse once I figure out how to get the most out of it.

LOL tell me about it! I always wonder how I missed certain details until I was looking over the pictures after. Nothing gets me cranky like doing a whole figure shoot and realizing there was a small hair on the figure that REALLY shows up in the images!
