Nendoroid Plus: Vocaloid Pull-Back Cars
Posted by Persocom on Apr 5, 2010 in Figure Review | 14 comments

This time around the figure acquisition isn’t my own possession. My son just turned 6 on March 30th, and these were part of his birthday presents. Unfortunately due to sitting in customs for 2 days they didn’t arrive until the day after, but he was very happy to have them even if they were a day late. I got his permission to take pictures of them and he insisted on being in a couple. We had ordered them quite some time ago when we first heard about them and luckily the release date didn’t get pushed back. I decided to keep the order with HobbySearch as they are quite quick about shipping things out and the payment is quicker because I don’t have to wait a day between invoice and payment. They’re still available on HobbySearch as well as other stores, and you can buy them separately or in some places as a full set depending on your tastes. They come at 1,198 Yen each, Miku Hatsune, Luka Megurine, Len Kagamine and Rin Kagamine. Read on for more chibi Vocaloid goodness.

Thought I’d start out with the packaging, as there’s no way I was going to do some sort of loot post since I had an eager child ready to play with them. No actual boxes, just some simple plastic and cardboard with instructions included on it.

Each Vocaloid Pull-Back car comes with their respective character of course. Miku Hatsune comes with her leek car. Luka Megurine comes with her tuna car. Len and Rin Kagamine both come with their steamrollers. They all have a magnet on their bottoms keeps them sitting in their cars and also activates the dashing forward motion. If you pull back the cars without one of them riding it won’t move forward at all. Of course you can mix and match them all you like, and the magnets are pretty decent in themselves. I took a few pictures of them hanging out on my fridge. I’ll do a size comparison post soon so you can see the difference in these Nendoroid Plus Vocaloids compared to their Nendoroid Petit and normal Nendoroid counterparts, along with other figures. All the Vocaloids are quite lightweight, which means you can put them just about anywhere. As for their speeds, they vary. Luka is the fastest of them all, when you pull her back and let her go she jets forward and goes the furthest of all of them. Since I wanted to use a system of measurement that most people could relate to, I’m going to use the distance of a coffee table in the living room for my examples. She can easily cover the entire surface of the coffee table and fly onto the floor, of course we stopped her before she could take any damage. Len and Rin go about the same, when pulled back and let go they covered the entire coffee table at well under half the speed of Luka, and were stopped, turned around and went almost all the way across it again. Miku gives quite the surprise as she starts out faster than the road rollers but slower than the tuna car, but after only a short distance her speed changes and she goes quite fast. If Luka and Miku were to race, Luka would be way ahead of her but Miku could possibly catch up and beat her, but a coffee table wasn’t enough distance to find out. After moving to the carpet, Miku was able to pass Luka and go even further. What’s most impressive is even for their very tiny size they are quite detailed. One last thing to mention is that Miku’s twin tails are on ball joints so they can be moved around and they stay in place. Well, I guess I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking, I just wanted to talk about the magnets and the speeds they go at mostly.

These particular Vocaloids are made by FREEing, which I’m not very personally familiar with, but I’m happy with them. As long as my son enjoys them, which he does, that’s all that matters to me. Sure you can collect them and display them on a shelf but these are more suited for actual use in my opinion. Kid tested, father approved.

Your son looks adorable, tell him that a strange man in Australia who likes lesbians wishes him a happy birthday.
Also, the vocaloids are super cool, much better then the presents I was getting when I was 6.

Heheh, those look fun. I wouldn’t mind getting those as a birthday present and I’m 20 years older xD

Snark – Thanks, I told him ^^ We also took him roller skating and he got some other presents as well that I might post about, and we went to his school and brought his class cupcakes among other things.
anon.object – They’re fun to race with lol. It’s cool being able to enjoy the same kinds of things with your children ^^
Heheh, The tuna and steamroller are f-wken adorable, minus leek, its wierder than that krabby patty mobile.
And yeah happy Belated B-day to your son, hope he likes the tuna.
Gunstray – thanks ^^ he likes them all pretty equally I think. He’d probably like a krabby patty mobile lol.
I knew I forgot to order something…
I now need to find a way to get these nendo cars!!!

Belated birthday greetings to your son. ^^
I wouldn’t mind having those Vocaloids as my birthday present either. ^^ But maybe they’ll spend more time sticking on the fridge instead of going around the house in their pull back cars.

Happy belated birthday to your son! A nice way to introduce Vocaloids to him if you haven’t already done so.
Interesting to know that removing the nendoroids from the cars would deactivate the pull-back mechanism. Still can’t stop looking at the tuna car – it’s just too crazy!

Just be careful not to break them.
Happy birthday to your son ^^
Make him listen to music,
japanisation!!
=D
Nice blog…
By the way… if I’m your son… i would still be happy to receive all those gift even if it’s 1 week late… hahahaha…
Xine – thank you ^^ yeah I think they make nice fridge decorations but they do better for him to play with.
Q – Thanks ^^ He actually knows quite a bit about Vocaloids, he really loves some of the songs and videos, he even gave Project Diva a try but it’s too much for him right now.
Fabrice – yeah I’m worried about them but he’s being quite responsible with them, he actually keeps them on the bookshelf when he’s not using them rather than throwing them in a toy box. Seems he’s learning something from me treating my figures with care
Oh, he listens to quite a large variety of music just like I do, and plenty of Japanese music in there.
David – thanks ^^ I wouldn’t mind getting something like that late if I was still a kid either
I only wish we had these kind of things when I was that young lol.
What an adorable gift!!! Also ya you’re lucky they weren’t pushed back, the high chance of delays make figures difficult to give as gifts for events.

lovelyduckie – yeah you’re telling me, so many figures get delayed it’s nearly impossible to buy something for a birthday without being disappointed.
I wish I got nendoroids as gifts when I was a kid. Too bad they didn’t exist back then.
