Steel Staff Ymir 1/8 PVC by MegaHouse (NSFW)

Ymir

Ymir is back at her worst, having given in to her dark side. The greedy dwarven steel princess Ymir from Queen’s Blade, back for the Rebellion, is brought to you in 1/8 PVC form in the Excellent Model CORE series by MegaHouse. Now brandishing twin axes and dual-wielding them with articulated arms and hands, the cute little Ymir turns bad, and the result is spectacular. I bought this figure from AmiAmi back when she released in late March of this year, for 5,540 yen. At the time of writing this up, there’s 1 in stock there, but I must advise you that she’s on sale at HLJ right now for even less. This is by far my favorite rendition of Ymir to date. Ah, just to remind you, this is a Queen’s Blade figure, so it’s NSFW! Now on to the review!

Ymir 1/8 PVC (box front)

The box. It was pretty large but I guess that’s pretty normal for PVC figures these days anyway. It’s pretty nice looking but I’m not really fond of giant PVC figure boxes that take up loads of space. Nothing too awfully fancy here.

I thought I’d show you one of the arms taken off her torso and in pieces, to show you just how the articulation in this figure works. Not a whole lot of it here, but it does give you more posing options than a 1/8 figure would normally have. On to the meat of the post.

Ymir comes with 2 axes and an extra face. Her corset top and skirt are both able to be cast-off. Her head is also rotatable. The cast-off is pretty simple, but you need to be careful with the bow in the back. Only two pegs keep her corset cast-off together, so it’s not too much work, but I found it more difficult to put it back on after taking it off because of the big bow. Ymir’s paint job is stunning, especially in her outfit. Of course she’s not completely perfect, slight smudges are here and there, and her corset and skirt leave a bit of paint smudged on her around her waist which can easily be cleaned off. One imperfection I noticed was on the side of her right breast lies a dark spot that almost looks like a mole. Some might consider this annoying, but it’s really not a big deal. Her two faces aren’t a whole lot different aside from one being a smile and the other being more of a battle-ready expression. They both look to the left slightly. I especially like her drill hair and the overall gothic/punk/bad-ass look to her costume. More specifically I love the detail that went into it. From her spike toed-shoes to the fine details in her garter belt and stockings, with proper shading and all. The black part of her skirt is even just a slight translucent. The articulation is nothing to write home about, but it’s the first Queen’s Blade 1/8 PVC that I know of to have this feature. Of course this was later taken a step further in a different figure, which I’ll be reviewing eventually as well. As I stated before, this is by far my most favorite version of Ymir to date, even though she’s so freaking evil, perhaps that makes me love her a lot more than the moe Ymir of days past. Of course, her extremely flat-chest doesn’t do anything for me (not that I have anything against them), but that garter belt and stockings is particularly sexy. All in personal taste I say.

If you’re like me and can’t get enough of Queen’s Blade Rebellion style Ymir, you should check out my Ymir & Eirin Visual Combat Book review. This is a must-get for dwarf fans, or gothic/punk fans, bad-ass PVC figure collectors or just those who dig Queen’s Blade. There are a few too many variants of Ymir out on the market, so perhaps that’s why this one went on sale now, but I think it’s definitely worth the original price tag. Yes I went through the whole post without saying the L word. I leave that up to you. I shouldn’t need to because I’m sure someone will look past her race and judge this book by it’s cover, and do it for me. This is Persocom, prescribing you with a healthy dose of dwarven fine figure art.

Nice outdoor shooting ! I really like Ymir in these clothes, but I find her a little to static. That’s why I did not order her. But she is cute :)

Leonia – thank you ^^ I’m biased because I absolutely love the outfit. The articulation wasn’t as good as I had hoped but she’s not meant to be an action figure, so it’s good enough for me. I do tire of static poses and it’s nice to at least have a little bit that moves.

Gunstray – Good to see that you approve ;)

Just got to love the axes and gothic look :D Though a bit flat chested for me haha XD

Maybe if there was revoltech version out for her i might consider getting ^^

chubbybots – I’m hoping for a Revoltech version as well, kinda disappointed there hasn’t been one released yet.

This upsets me in that I’ve really come to like Ymir, Alice, and Aludra because I, quite frankly, have no like or taste for the Queens Blade series. I suppose this means I’ll just have to admire them from the safety of your site, heh.

hi, nice review!. how to clean the stains? i have that problem but dont know how to remove them

  12. PersocomNo Gravatar

catalyst – Well I have plenty more Queen’s Blade coming, so you’ll have enough to see ^^

moefan – Depending on how bad the stains are you may be able to clean them off with a damp towel q-tip or cloth. If it’s a particularly bad stain and that doesn’t work you can try some Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
