Nendoroid Azusa Nakano

Shifting back to review mode now, I’m going to switch things up from the usual and show you my latest Nendoroid arrival Azusa Nakano from K-On! We bought this from AmiAmi for 2,598 yen, and she’s still available there if you’re interested in picking one up. Of course, this is the re-issue as the first batch sold out quite quickly. Azusa is the 5th member of Houkago Tea Time, and plays a Fender Mustang electric guitar. She’s often referred to as Azu-nyan, a nickname that Yui gave her. She’s another fine Nendoroid from GoodSmile Company indeed. Though there are Nendoroids of all the main characters of K-On!, this will probably be the only one we buy. Well then, enough with the intro, on to the main show!
Here’s her box. Nothing fancy, just your typical Nendoroid box. I can’t help but notice the shiny little teddy bear head sticker though.
Azusa comes with 3 total faces, 6 total arms, an extra leg, her Fender guitar, amp, and guitar strap, alone with her nekomimi and a cat.
Azusa has quite a nice number of accessories, making her all the more fun. One of the things that I like the most about her is her unique stand. The stand is actually quite different from the standard stands as instead of being a round base with an arm, it’s actually a pair of cat ears. Of course there are grooves for her skirt to sort of attach into place on it as many of the Nendoroid stands have. Her guitar strap hooks onto her Fender quite easily and it just the right length. All of her hands on each of her arms is poseable and removable, so you can have fun swapping them around. There are no holes in her head or hair for the nekomimi to go into, they just slide on and stay in place. I really love the detail in the ears, guitar and amp. Her paint job looks great to me, though I might not have noticed some minor flaws. Azusa wears plain old white pantsu, so nothing special to note down there. The extra leg that comes with her makes for good “rocking out” poses, and the sleeping cat is quite adorable. Her twin tails are on ball joints, allowing them to be moved around easily for more pose versatility. I definitely give this Nendoroid two thumbs up, 5 stars, whatever you wanna rate her she came out spectacular. No complaints here.
All-in-all Azu-nyan is a very cute and well done Nendoroid. She comes with just the right amount of accessories to make her fun and she’s easy to pose, nothing’s too loose or wobbly. She doesn’t do well at standing on her own though despite having twin tails, but there’s only a select few Nendoroids that can stand on their own anyway. I realize that most people either love or hate K-On! but that’s not what I’m here to talk about, this is a figure review and that’s what I’ve done. If you happen to be amongst the legions of K-On! fanatics or Azu-nyan worshipers, you might want to get your hands on this cutie. Nyaaaa!

chubbybots – Thanks, she turned out better than I had expected. I wouldn’t really suggest buying her just for the ears though. I could imagine what you’d do with her though
Great photos, cannot wait to get mine and take some pictures. The extra leg is a strange addition, but I can see a lot of possibilities to go alone with it ^^

Haven’t got into K-On because I haven’t watched it yet (except for 2 random episodes but that was it), so I can’t judge the whole thing from it, but in terms of character Azusa does look cute, especially in Chibi form. No wonder pre-order went crazy and it even went over the factory’s quota. Seeing it hands-on made it even more tempting. Well maybe we’ll see once the 2nd release comes later this month (I think).
As a review post I like the pictures – the background is nice and different (looks like some kind of mat or even carpet? lol). If I were to buy a nendo Azusa she would go well with my nendo black hair nekomimi Shana I must say.

Kairu90 – Thank you ^^ Hope you get yours soon though it sounds like it’ll be a while yet. I like the addition of the extra leg, though I almost wish it was up high enough to make her able to put one foot on her amp and rock out XD
Q – To answer your question, the background is actually a baby blanket that we still had laying around. Take your time and watch things at your own pace, and decide for yourself if you really like her ^^ I have to give you credit for not judging it after a couple of random episodes though, many people do that before they even give things a try. Azusa is the only character that I thought really stood out and made a great Nendoroid. It’s a good thing I’m not a sucker for completion, though I must say the others have some pretty tempting accessories as well (I like musical instruments).
@Persocom Awwww it is not able to do that? That was kinda the idea I had. Is it at least high enough to step on the kitty and rock out? XD

Well I wouldn’t say I hate it. I just didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as I was expecting to. But despite my dislike of K-On! (and actually my even great dislike of Azusa as a character), I must say this is a very nice Nendoroid. It’s cute and versatile from all the accessories. Although I don’t like the show I still like the high quality figures/dolls I keep seeing in everyone’s reviews.

Oooh, Nendoroid Azusa is incredibly cute xD Wouldn’t mind having her but I’m kind of already committed to the K-ON Azone dolls which takes up all my K-ON budget ^^;

anon.object – Yeah those Azone’s will eat up the budget real fast. Opted out on them for the Nendos and Figmas but perhaps some day I’ll get an Azone. I absolutely love the base, would like to see more like it in the future.
