Haruhi Suzumiya Gekisou Ver. 1/8 PVC by Max Factory
Just yesterday I got a new package in the mail, and while I’d normally do some kind of loot post to give me time to take pictures of my new figures, this time I decided not to. Though I must say the box for this figure is impressive, I’m just going to skip straight to the figure. Haruhi Suzumiya is from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, though I doubt she needs any introduction. I bought her from Hobby Search for 7,057 Yen, and surprisingly she’s still in stock at the time of writing this. While the shipping was at an all time high because of having her combined with the next figure I’ll be reviewing, I must say she’s worth it. This is hands down the best Haruhi figure I have seen as of yet, and the first 1/8 PVC of her I’ve had the pleasure of owning. Read on for the full review and lots of pictures!
Where do I even begin with this review? Well I guess I’ll start with her head and make my way down. To start off, Haruhi’s hair is finely detailed, her face is sculpted nicely (and not off at all) and she’s got a ton of nondetachable accessories: two hoop earrings, a black choker, her hair band, a microphone that’s wrapped around her right ear, a necklace with a cross on it and another painted on necklace. Her corset style top is also nicely detailed, and it has it’s straps wrapping around her shoulder. She’s wearing two different length and styled arm warmers, one going most of the way down her arm with straps around it and the other just covering her wrist. She’d holding a guitar pick in her right hand and the neck of her guitar in the other. Her fingers are made to have her playing a chord on the guitar and her pose itself is that of her in the middle of playing the guitar on stage. The guitar is so finely detailed you’d swear you could play it. The finish on it is glossy just like a real guitar, every little detail is there from the pickups to the real bendable strings. Compare it to a real guitar and I doubt you’d find much of anything missing. If you turn her at the right angle you can even make out her bellybutton hiding behind the guitar. Her skirt looks spectacular, with a belt looking part holding it up and all the ruffles in it. Her pantsu are plain white, nothing special, but there are much better things to be looking at on this figure. Her legs are nice and long, and her stockings look great, one all the way up to her thigh and one dropped below the knee. The heeled shoes are glossy and detailed and she stands on the base with her legs spread and knees slightly bent. The base itself is nothing special but it’s just the right size and color for this figure. Personally I have to give this figure a 10/10. I’m getting pretty tired of Haruhi figures in general because there are so many, but this one is awesome. Next month, assuming there aren’t any delays, I’ll be getting the Yuki Nagato Gekisou version figure to go along with this one. I’m impressed.
I highly recommend this figure to anyone who likes Haruhi, maybe even to people who don’t but can appreciate very well sculpted and beautifully detailed figures. If you want to see the rest of the pictures I took they can be found at my Flickr photostream.

LOVE HER! Grats on a spectacular figure. I’m still waiting on mine but I plan on getting the whole rocking set! Can one ever have too many Haruhi figures? I think not!

It does look like a really-really nice figure. But I don’t have the urge to place an order for her… I love my traditional MF Haruhi pointing figure that I has. And don’t really like buying more than one of the same character(unless its a certain character or series I love to bits). She does look incredible though.

It’s a splendid figure; I personally prefer the Yuki one, but Haruhi looks awesome nonetheless.

Snark – I think most people don’t believe that the second season is here, or they’re at least tired of posting about announcements that are later denounced and then re-announced only to be denounced again. Haruhi fans have been getting screwed over for years. I, for one, gave up on Kadokawa. If a second season is delivered cool, but I’m not going to get my hopes up. Since Yuki is my favorite character, I’m getting her next month. I have a feeling I’ll prefer that one too XD

AAH! I was supposed to collect this a few days back, but I had no money T___T
I really liked the box, very shiny and very, very well designed. My friend collected it when I went to the shop with him, and he was saying it’s so good, he’ll like to keep the figure in the box lol.
And yes I agree, face not off AT ALL. This has to be one of the most accurate figures of Haruhi ever.

had temporarily boxed up the previous max factory 1/8 haruhi but taking her out again for this review… she stands up surprisingly well in terms of quality ^^ alas, seifuku isn’t as interesting as this outfit, so gekisou wins in the end

meronpan – thanks, I’m still unsure about Mikuru, while her outfit looks good I’m not big on the tambourine. I might end up getting her, but I don’t have strong urges to complete sets. Considering she’s coming out this month, I’ll probably end up waiting till a re-release of her due to too many orders coming up.
I really like the whole theme,quality and posure of this figure but Im so tired of Haruhi figures and dont really like the series after all.Its a great gift to all the fans though

Blowfish – I’m not really a huge Haruhi fanatic, though I liked the show it’s not the best thing ever. Honestly I originally only planned on getting Haruhi but Riiana wanted this one so bad I couldn’t say no, but in the end I’m glad we got her for sure.

I realized that I’m not that much of a fan of Haruhi, so I decided to cancel my preorder on it xD
In a way it is saving me from getting all of them 3 and I can use it for other figures xD

Lovely Haruhi, very detailed, easily one of the best Haruhi out there. Unfortunately, I decided to passed on these trio because I am still preoccupied with the long list I have ;s
This is one of the better Haruhi figurines out there, mainly because of the detailed costume. It’s quite expensive from what I remember. But yeah, nice one
