Konata Izumi Summer Uniform Ver. Figma

This review is a bit overdue, since I got this figure last month. Konata Izumi shouldn’t need an introduction, she’s the super otaku main character girl from Lucky Star, and this is her Summer Uniform Version Figma by Max Factory. I previously reviewed the Winter Version Figma over a year ago. I bought her from Hobby Search for 2,261 Yen, and she’s still available for purchase there at the time of writing this. Read on for pictures and a full review.

Loot, Post Backlog & Camera Upgrade Needed

Mid-August Loot

Well, it’s about time I get to work on figure reviews, I’ve acquired three figures since last month that I haven’t gotten a review done for, and I’m also in the process of figuring out exactly what to order for this month. The problem is my budget is getting tighter these days for various reasons, one of which is that my son is in school now. I’m also in the market for saving up for a new camera. My old camera that I’m using for all my pictures right now is outdated and obsolete. I’m quite tired of it’s under par performance and battery diminishing gluttony. In fact, when I think about it I would be willing to bet just from all the batteries I’ve bought for it over the last couple of years I could have afforded a DSLR or the likes. I’m completely open to suggestions, though I’m not sure what my camera budget will be, and it will likely be months before I’m able to go get one. I want something that’s going to last and not run through packages of batteries like it’s dying of starvation. Of course, there are other things that I could hope for in a new camera as well. Oh yes, the loot backlog will be plucked away at soon.

Konata Izumi’s Кока-Кола Caper

So, my wife brought a can of Coca-Cola home from work a while back, back when I was waiting for my Konata figma order to arrive. It just happened to be an Olympic games limited edition can of Koka-Kora (I think that’s how it’s pronounced at least). I took one look at it and thought to myself, this almost looks like it says Koka-Kona. After all, in Russian it’s written Кока-Кола. So I got this weird idea the minute I saw it and decided I’d take a few pictures of Konata with it some day when I had nothing better to do. Well, today was that day. I also took a puppy from my wife’s Bratz doll and took a couple pictures. So here you go, shameless filler before my next figure arrival. Konata Izumi drunk on Coca-Cola getting licked to death by over-sized puppy.

Konata Izumi Winter Uniform Ver. Figma

Well, it’s my 26th birthday today, so as I said before I’ll be reviewing Konata Izumi, Nanoha Takamachi and Fate T. Harlaown figmas today. I’ll start off with Konata, then I gotta run and do something with the family ^^ I’ll do Nanoha and Fate later today!

So, I opened her up and her original face and her hair was a little loose, it comes off a little too easily, but, it’s not enough to keep me from being happy. The other face fits quite securely, even if the hair is still sorta loose. I’ll probably just add something later to make it fit more tightly, but as you can see I did manage to pose her just fine. I was excited about this figma since it was announced, and I’m not really disappointed. I love Konata too much to be deterred by a little loose face syndrome :P Hmm, well my wife and I plan on doing something today (not sure what or where) and since it’s my birthday I shouldn’t just sit around the house all day I guess, so I’ll leave you with these pictures. If you’re a fan of Lucky Star, and you’re not turned off by a simple loose face/hair that can be fixed, or action figures in general (there’s plenty who don’t like them), don’t miss out on this figure. The chocolate cornet is actually attached to the hand, that’s something I didn’t know before. Well then, I’ll be back later! Look forward to Nanoha and Fate!

Little end note: these aren’t all the pictures I took and not really a great review, I apologize. Perhaps I’ll add more later on?

Early Arrivals

I’m happy and excited to say that I’m very impressed with Hobby Search as they only took four days to get my Fate T. Harlaown figma to me, thanks to EMS shipping (which I see well worth the extra money). Also, my other order for Nanoha Takamachi and Konata Izumi came in this morning from J-List. Early arrivals are for the win! So, I’m going to hold off since my birthday is on Monday. For now here’s the boxes.

Yeah I know the pictures aren’t that great but I just wanted to show that they’re here and waiting for release. I’ll only post the best of my pictures when I do the photo shoots for the actual figures.

I’ll post up reviews/pictures of them on my birthday, the 11th. I’m sort of wondering whether or not I should post separately for each one, or do them all in the same post. Not sure what would be best, I’m bound to take a ton of pictures. Oh and the very first picture is the wallpaper I’m using for my desktop right now, I’m on a Nanoha kick right now. Also made a couple more orders today. I pre-ordered the Fraulein Revoltech Yoko Ritona action figure for my wife, this will be the first Revoltech figure we’ll have owned, now I can compare them with figma. Also decided to finally get Saber figma because I started watching Fate/Stay Night last night and I actually got into it. I never got into it before because the story just didn’t appeal to me, but the truth is I’ve always loved things medieval and ever since I was a kid, armor and swords were a fascination of mine. I’m sure most everyone has seen both but here are pictures of them just in case.
